SRI Kirtan is the Woodstock, New York duo of the late Sruti Ram (vocals, harmonium) and Ishwari (vocals, acoustic guitar). Emerging from the Hudson Valley in 2004, they became a staple of the most prestigious chant gatherings — Omega's Ecstatic Chant, Bhakti Fest, and regular appearances at Kripalu and Jivamukti Yoga NYC — known for an explosive fusion of ancient mantra with folk, gospel, and hip-hop. Their album Live Your Love (Mantralogy, 2010), produced with Julie Last, gathered guests from across the kirtan community including Steve Gorn, Visvambhar of The Mayapuris, and rapper SriKala, and drew praise from Ram Dass, Sharon Gannon, and Shyam Das. Sruti Ram — a beloved devotee of Neem Karoli Baba with four decades of kirtan leading — passed away in 2021; Ishwari continues to share their music, appearing at gatherings such as the Woodstock Festival of Awakening.
