Full Translation
A prayer by Narottama Das Thakura to Lord Gauranga (Chaitanya Mahaprabhu): "O Gauranga, be merciful to this lowly soul — there is none more fallen than I in all the three worlds. If You will not show mercy seeing how fallen I am, then why are You known as Patita Pavana, the savior of the fallen?" The singer begs to be carried across the ocean of birth and death by the Lord's lotus feet.
Spiritual Significance
The song embodies dainya — the humility and helpless dependence on divine grace that lies at the heart of Gaudiya bhakti. It teaches that the path is not earned by merit but received as mercy, and that calling out from a place of genuine humility is itself the prayer.
