Full Translation
A beloved verse in praise of the Divine Mother: "O Narayani — you who are the auspiciousness of all that is auspicious, the accomplisher of every aim, the giver of refuge, three-eyed radiant Gauri — salutations to you." The verse gathers the Mother's gentlest names into a single bow of gratitude and surrender.
Spiritual Significance
Chanted to invoke blessing and protection at the close of worship, the verse approaches the fierce Goddess in her most benevolent aspect — the source of all good fortune and the refuge of all beings. Singing it is understood to draw the Mother's auspicious presence into whatever follows.
Cultural Context & History
The verse comes from the Narayani Stuti of the Devi Mahatmya (11.10), the central scripture of Goddess worship, and is traditionally sung at the end of Durga puja and aarti across India. In Western Kirtan it entered many hearts through Tina Malia and Shimshai's luminous acoustic rendition "Sarva Mangala" on their duet album Jaya Bhagavan (2005).
