Full Translation

Sri Ram Jai Ram is a beloved chant in the Vaishnava tradition, honoring Rama — the seventh avatar of Vishnu and the embodiment of dharma, truth, and virtue. It is said that chanting the name of Ram liberates the soul from suffering.

Spiritual Significance

Mahatma Gandhi's final words were 'Hey Ram.' The name Ram is considered a complete mantra — containing within it the seed syllables of both Shiva (Ra) and Vishnu (Ma). Chanting it purifies the heart and mind.

Cultural Context & History

This chant comes from the Ramacharitamanas tradition of Tulsidas and the broader Ram Bhakti movement. It is widely sung in Kirtan across India and beyond.
